Jacob Kelley Resigns as Cherokee County Head Football Coach
Centre, AL – Jacob Kelley has stepped down from his position as head football coach at Cherokee County High School after a successful seven-season run in Northeast Alabama.
During his tenure at the helm of the Warriors program, Kelley amassed a 65-23 record including a 34-11 mark in region play and a 13-7 record in the postseason. The Cedartown, GA native’s time in Centre was highlighted by three consecutive trips to the Super 7 from 2022-2024.

The Warriors closed out 2025 with a 7-4 record, concluding their run with a close first round playoff loss at No. 10 Good Hope.
Kelley, who took over for 18-year head coach Thomas Curry after the 2018 season, never had a losing season. Kelley is expected to be a prominent candidate in coaching searches across both Alabama and Georgia this offseason.
