Bob Jones Head Football Coach Kelvis White Announces Retirement
MADISON, AL – Kelvis White, the head football coach at Bob Jones High School, has announced his retirement after six seasons leading the Patriots and an impressive 18-year career as a head coach in Alabama high school football.
“I am incredibly grateful for my time with Madison City Schools and the administrative staff at Bob Jones High School, who gave me the opportunity to be an educator and to serve as the head football coach for the last six years.” White released in a statement.
During his tenure at Bob Jones, White lead the Patriots to a 29-35 overall record, including four appearances in the Class 7A playoffs. His final season in 2025 saw the Patriots finish with a 5-5 record. Prior to his time at Bob Jones, White spent four seasons at Huntsville’s Mae Jemison High School, where he led the program to a 25-20 record and secured its first-ever playoff victory in 2017. He also served as head coach at Dothan High School for eight seasons.
Over his 18-year coaching career, White’s teams made 12 playoff appearances, showcasing his ability to build competitive programs. In addition to his head coaching roles, White spent time as an assistant at Homewood, Russellville, and Birmingham-Southern.

Before stepping into coaching, White had a standout playing career. He played high school football at Courtland High and continued at the University of Alabama, where he played under legendary coaches Gene Stallings and Mike DuBose. White was also a four-year Academic All-SEC honoree.
Football runs deep in the White family. Kelvis is the brother of Laron White, a longtime coach at Tanner and Sparkman who now serves on the staff at Alabama A&M under head coach Sam Shade. Their father, Louis White, is a coaching icon in Alabama, having led Courtland High to four state championships during his 24-year tenure.
With White’s departure, Bob Jones High School becomes the second program in Madison County currently searching for a new head football coach, joining Hazel Green High School. The Patriots have been a consistent playoff contender, missing the postseason only three times since 2005. However, the program has not secured a playoff victory since 2013.
White concludes his head coaching career with a 93-100 overall record, including a 70-50 mark in region play and one region championship.
