Frye Dominates as Clay-Chalkville Powers Past Muscle Shoals into 6A State Final

MUSCLE SHOALS – The top-ranked Clay-Chalkville Cougars secured their spot in the AHSAA Class 6A state championship with a decisive 30-13 road victory over the previously undefeated Muscle Shoals Trojans on Friday night. Quarterback Aaron Frye was the driving force, accounting for four touchdowns in the semifinal clash.

The win extends the Cougars’ perfect season to 14-0 and sets up a title showdown against Saraland (13-0) next Friday at Birmingham’s Protective Stadium. This marks Clay-Chalkville’s third appearance in the Super 7 championship in the last five years, following title wins in 2021 and 2023.

Frye, a senior committed to Alabama State, delivered a masterful performance. He connected with Josh Woods for an 8-yard touchdown pass and found Jacari Johnson for a 28-yard score. Frye also demonstrated his dual-threat ability with touchdown runs of 5 and 6 yards.

The Cougars established a 22-10 lead by halftime against a tough Trojans defense that had only allowed an average of 7.6 points per game all season. A key score came with just 13 seconds left in the second quarter when Frye hit Johnson for the 28-yard touchdown, capping a quick 52-yard drive.

For Muscle Shoals (12-1), quarterback Kade Clemmons broke free for a 43-yard touchdown run. Kicker Jorge Garcia contributed two field goals, including a career-long 45-yarder.
