Schedule Set For The 2025 AHSAA Super 7 State Football Championships

Four Reigning Champions Return to the Magic City

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The stage is set for the 2025 Alabama High School Athletic Association Super 7 state football championships. Four defending state champions will return to Birmingham’s Protective Stadium next week, seeking to capture another coveted blue map. The full lineup of contenders was confirmed following the conclusion of the Class 1A-6A state playoff semifinals on Friday night.

With thrilling matchups scheduled over three days, fans can expect an intense conclusion to the high school football season. The action begins on Wednesday and culminates with the crowning of seven state champions by Friday night.

Defending Champions Eye Repeat Titles

The championship field includes four teams that hoisted the trophy last season. Defending Class 7A champion Thompson secured its spot last week and will battle Opelika to close out the first day of competition. This highly anticipated game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Wednesday.

Other returning champions include Class 4A’s Jackson, Class 3A’s Mars Hill Bible, and Class 1A’s Wadley. In a notable matchup, Wadley is set to face Maplesville, creating the only championship game rematch from the 2024 season. Both teams enter the contest with undefeated records, promising a hard-fought battle for the Class 1A crown.

In addition to the returning football champions, both defending flag football champions will be back to defend their titles. Central-Phenix City, the two-time winner in the Class 6A/7A division, and defending national champion, aims for a third consecutive championship. Montgomery Catholic, the reigning Class 1A/5A champion, will face Moody in a rematch of last year’s final to kick off the entire Super 7 event.
