Coaching Veteran John McKenzie Takes Over McIntosh Football Program
McINTOSH, AL — John McKenzie, a veteran high school football coach with a 36-22 career record, has been appointed head coach of the McIntosh High School Eagles.
McKenzie’s coaching career includes a Class 4A state championship with Vigor High School in 2021, where he led the team to a 14-1 record. During his two-year tenure at Vigor (2020-2021), McKenzie compiled a 19-6 record, including a 10-2 mark in region play.
He also served as head coach at Paul Bryant High School in 2023, finishing 3-7, and at Murphy High School in 2022, where the team went 2-7. McKenzie returned to Vigor in 2024, guiding the team to a 12-2 record and a deep playoff run.
The Eagles will kick off 2026 with a road trip to Mobile Christian on August 21st.
