Barnett’s 6 TD Passes Power No. 1 Bayside Academy to 49-7 Rout of Bayshore Christian

FAIRHOPE, AL — Junior quarterback Davis Barnett was nearly flawless, throwing six touchdown passes as Single-A No. 1 Bayside Academy overwhelmed Bayshore Christian 49-7 on Friday night. The Admirals moved to 2-0 on the young season, while the Eagles slipped to 1-2.

Barnett needed just half a game to make his mark. He completed 19 of 20 passes for 358 yards before coach Barrett Trotter turned to the reserves. By then, the outcome was long settled.

Barnett Sets the Tone Early

Bayside wasted little time. Barnett spread the ball across the field, hitting a series of targets in stride and keeping the Eagles’ defense guessing on every snap. His precision showed in the numbers, as he missed only one throw all night.

Tight end Ladd Powers emerged as Barnett’s favorite target. Powers hauled in two scoring passes, an 18-yarder and a 12-yarder, and finished with seven catches for 140 yards. His mix of size and sure hands gave the Admirals a steady option in the red zone.

Scores Pile Up Through the Air

Barnett kept the pressure on with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Ward Hix and an 18-yard strike to Sam Cunningham. He added a 10-yard scoring toss to Walker Collins, capping short, efficient drives that kept Bayshore on its heels.

The night’s most explosive play belonged to Caid Lyons, who caught a 52-yard touchdown pass and turned a well-designed route into a long score. Six different scoring plays through the air underscored how many weapons the Admirals can deploy.

Reserves Keep Rolling in the Third

With the game well in hand, Trotter pulled Barnett after the opening drive of the second half. The move did little to slow the offense. Backup quarterback Cooper Mason broke free for a 40-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, giving Bayside’s depth a chance to shine.

Bayshore Finds the End Zone Late

The Eagles avoided a shutout in the fourth quarter. Chase Harris punched in a 1-yard run with 5:03 remaining, capping the home team’s best sustained push of the night. The score offered a bright spot for a Bayshore team still searching for consistency after a promising start to the season.

Looking Ahead

Bayside Academy returns home next week to host St. Luke’s, aiming to keep its unbeaten record intact and defend its top ranking. Bayshore Christian hits the road to face Providence Christian as it looks to steady the season and climb back toward .500.
