Leeds Dominates No. 5 Central-Clay County 35-7 Behind Schorfhaar’s Three Touchdowns

Leeds sent a loud message to the rest of Class 4A on Friday night, jumping to a 21-0 lead and rolling to a 35-7 home victory over fifth-ranked Central-Clay County. The Green Wave leaned on a sharp passing attack and a suffocating defense to hand the visitors their second loss of the season.

Fast Start Sets the Tone

Leeds wasted no time seizing control. The Green Wave built a 21-0 cushion before halftime, mixing quick strikes through the air with a physical ground game that kept Central-Clay County’s defense on its heels.

Quarterback Bennett Schorfhaar orchestrated the early surge, spreading the ball to a deep group of playmakers. Jacauri Swain got behind the secondary for a 33-yard touchdown, then added a 24-yard scoring grab, giving Leeds a two-score edge that never felt in danger.

Schorfhaar Carves Up the Secondary

Schorfhaar finished 12-for-17 for 208 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, a clean, efficient stat line that anchored the win. He picked his spots, hit his receivers in stride and rarely faced pressure behind a steady offensive line.

Jacarrious Davis provided a big-play spark of his own, hauling in six catches for 91 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown that stretched the Leeds lead. Davis and Swain combined for three of the Green Wave’s four passing scores.

Archer Does It All

Brennen Archer gave Leeds a versatile weapon in the backfield. He carried 10 times for 85 yards and a touchdown, then flashed his arm on the perimeter by completing all three of his pass attempts for 34 yards. That dual-threat wrinkle kept Central-Clay County guessing and added another layer to an already balanced attack.

Defense Slams the Door

If the offense set the tempo, the Leeds defense closed the game out. The Green Wave held Central-Clay County to just 50 total yards, including minus-4 yards rushing. The visitors managed only a single touchdown against a unit that pressured the pocket, plugged running lanes and forced negative plays all night.

For a Central-Clay County program ranked No. 5 in 4A entering the week, the offensive struggles marked a rare off night. The Volunteers own the talent to bounce back, but Friday belonged fully to the hosts.

Looking Ahead

Leeds (2-1) hits the road next Friday for a matchup at Anniston, carrying momentum and a defense playing at a high level. Central-Clay County (2-2) returns home to host Jacksonville, looking to steady the season and rediscover the form that earned its early ranking.
