Madison Academy Blanks Westminster Christian 52-0

HUNTSVILLE, AL – No. 5-ranked Madison Academy leaned on an explosive ground game and a suffocating defense to blank Westminster Christian 52-0 on Sept. 11, claiming the first shutout in a series the Mustangs now lead 11-0 all-time.

The result never felt in doubt. Madison Academy scored on nearly every possession it wanted to, piled up 437 total yards and never let the Wildcats find the end zone.

Fast Start Sets the Tone

The Mustangs jumped ahead early and often, scoring 21 points in the opening quarter. Jordyn McClain got things going with a 60-yard touchdown run, the first of a huge night for the senior back.

Madison Academy kept its foot on the gas in the second quarter, adding 17 more points to build a commanding 38-0 halftime lead. Charleston Owens made his mark on both sides of the ball during the surge, and Josh Ximenez capped one drive with a 21-yard field goal.

McClain and Owens Lead the Charge

McClain finished with a staggering 204 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just five carries, an average of more than 40 yards per attempt. After his 60-yard opening score, he broke free for touchdown runs of 43 and 59 yards.

Owens was every bit as versatile. He ran five times for 75 yards and two scores, then added 121 yards through the air by completing 9 of 17 passes. His longest strike went 49 yards to Cameron Childress, who hauled in four catches for 80 yards.

Simeon Knowles chipped in 36 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, and the Mustangs even found points on defense, returning a Westminster fumble 85 yards for a score.

Defense Preserves the Shutout

While the offense rolled, Madison Academy’s defense did the heavy lifting to keep the scoreboard clean. The Mustangs held Westminster Christian to just 91 total yards and allowed only 2.5 yards per rush.

The Wildcats never completed a pass. Raif Robinson led the way on the ground with 42 yards on 18 carries, and Bryce Gothart added 41 yards on 11 attempts, but Westminster could not sustain drives against a defense that swarmed the ball all night.

By the Numbers

Madison Academy racked up 437 total yards, including 316 on the ground while averaging a remarkable 15.8 yards per carry. Two third-quarter touchdowns rounded out the scoring and put the finishing touches on a dominant performance from start to finish.

Westminster Christian, meanwhile, managed just 91 yards of total offense and failed to reach the end zone for the first time in the series.

Looking Ahead

The road only gets tougher for Madison Academy (3-1, 2-0), which travels to face Double-A No. 1 Briarwood Christian in what should be one of the season’s marquee matchups.

Westminster Christian (0-4, 0-2) will look to break into the win column when it travels to Randolph.
