Auburn, AL – The Central-Clay County Volunteers became the second reigning state champion of the day to retain their crown in Thursday\u2019s session of the AHSAA Super 7 State Football Championships.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vols overcame a late Pleasant Grove surge that saw the Spartans come up a yard short in the game\u2019s final play to notch a 31-27 5A state title game victory at Jordan-Hare Stadium. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Running back Quentin Knight shined for the Volunteers racking up 181 yards on 23 carries an a pair of rushing touchdowns in route to taking home Most Valuable Player honors. Central quarterback Philip Ogels finished the night with 74 yards through the air, completing 4-of-11 passes and one interception while Javon Wood hauled in three grabs for 67 yards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
