Oneonta, AL – After parting ways with former head coach Don Jacobs in late February, the Oneonta Redskins have a new leader on the gridiron. <\/p>\n
The Oneonta City School Board officially approved Brandon Herring as the Redskins 43rd head football coach. <\/p>\n
Herring, a former UAB offensive lineman began his coaching career with the Blazers before joining Pat Sullivan’s offensive staff at Samford University. <\/p>\n
After over a decade as an assistant in the college ranks the Hueytown native accepted the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach position with the Athens Golden Eagles. <\/p>\n
Following one season with the Golden Eagles, Herring joined former Gadsden City Titans head coach Matt Scott’s staff as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. In his lone season with the Titans, Herring helped lead GCHS to a 7-6 record including a trip to the class 7A semi-finals. <\/p>\n
The 40 year old first time head coach takes over a Redskins program with a storied history, having captured five state championships and 19 region titles.<\/p>\n
