B.B. Comer Rolls Into The Class 2A Semifinals with 42-22 Win Over Clarke County

Grove Hill, AL -The top-ranked B.B. Comer Tigers secured a 42-22 victory over Clarke County in the Class 2A quarterfinals Friday night at H.G. Prim Stadium.  The 2022 Class 2A runner-up Tigers  secured their spot in the semifinals for the second consecutive season.   

Leading the charge for the undefeated Tigers (13-0) was quarterback Devin Harvey, who accounted for four touchdowns. Harvey’s contributions included a 1-yard touchdown run and seven completions. All of these passes found their mark with Raelon Sims, who caught three for touchdowns of 35, 41, and 12 yards. Sims also had receptions of 41, 30, and 20 yards, rounding off the night with a total of 180 yards.

Clarke County initially took an 8-0 lead after recording a safety and then driving 47 yards on its subsequent possession. Jayshaun Stokes scored on an 11-yard run to solidify their early advantage.

However, the Tigers’ offense roared to life in the second quarter. A five-play, 64-yard drive resulted in Kamore Harris rushing the final 11 yards for a touchdown, marking the beginning of a scoring spree for the visitors.

Despite Clarke County adding a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter the Tigers’ lead remained unchallenged. Harris ended the game with 151 yards on 14 attempts, while Stokes led Clarke County with 75 yards on six carries.

With the victory, B.B. Comer (13-0) prepares to welcome the undefeated Reeltown Rebels (12-0) to Legion Stadium next Friday night with the winner advancing to the AHSAA Super 7 Championships at Bryant-Denny Stadium.   

Clarke County’s season comes to a close, after capturing their third region championship, at 7-6.
