By Josh Bean | For the AHSAA

MONTGOMERY – Scottsboro High School senior Caroline Sanders won three events, and set personal records in all three, this past Saturday at the Alabama-Tennessee Challenge in Fort Payne. The performance puts Sanders in this week’s AHSAA Outdoor Track Spotlight.

Sanders won 200-meter dash in 25.41 seconds, won the long jump with leap of 20 feet and won the triple jump with a leap of 38 feet, 5 inches. Her long jump is the state’s best for a female athlete so far this season, and she is one of only nine American female high school long jumpers to reach the 20-feet distance this season.

Sanders’ triple jump of 38-5 is also the state’s best so far this season. In fact, Sanders has recorded the state’s best high jump (5 feet, 6 inches), long jump (20 feet) and triple jump (38 feet, 5 inches) this season. She ranks ninth statewide in the 200 meters and has also competed in the 800 meters, javelin, and pole vault.
