Gardendale, AL – Tabernacle Christian School head football coach, Clint Chase, has announced his decision to step down after four impactful seasons at the helm of the Torches program. Chase leaves behind a legacy of dedication and leadership, guiding the program through both challenges and triumphs.

During his time as head coach, Chase led the Torches to a combined 16-18 record, with a noteworthy 12-9 mark in conference play. His coaching prowess was highlighted by guiding the team to a pair of CFA semifinal appearances in 2021 and 2022, showcasing his ability to inspire excellence on the gridiron.

In 2021, Coach Chase was honored with the Christian Football Association’s Coach of the Year award while mentoring 20 All-Conference selections and one CFA Most Valuable Player award recipient during his run from 2020 to 2023.

Chase’s tenure began in 2020 amidst the uncertainties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite a season shortened by external factors, he steered the Torches with resilience. In his second season, the team rolled to a 7-4 record and advanced to the conference semifinals, marking Tabernacle’s best finish since 2015.

“I want to thank Tabernacle Christian School for the wonderful opportunity to lead their football program and trust me will all of these talented athletes.  I’m not sure that I can put into words adequately enough to express my passion for coaching and developing young men on and off the football field other than to say it has been an absolute honor to do so.  Thanks to all of the Torches families that have supported us and worked so hard over the years to give these student athletes the best opportunity to succeed.  To all of the coaches that have coached with me, you all have hearts of gold, and I could not have done it with out each and every one of you.  I know that the future of this program will be in good hands going forward, and I wish them all the best.  Go Torches always!”  – Tabernacle Christian School head football coach Clint Chase

Throughout his tenure, Chase played a pivotal role in the program’s transition to a new state-of-the-art facility at Bill Noble Park. Beyond wins and losses, Chase emphasized the importance of impacting student-athletes beyond the football field. Tabernacle Superintendent Andrew Peters lauded Chase’s commitment to developing young men of character and integrity.

“If done correctly, coaching has the potential of impacting student athletes far beyond the sport itself.  Coach Chase understood the game of football but I always appreciated his desire to have a lasting impact beyond the gridiron.  This is where he really excelled, growing young men to honor their school, their family and their Savior,  I have known Coach Chase for over ten years and I am thankful for the impact he has had on the sports program at Tabernacle Christian School these past four seasons.” – Tabernacle Christian School Superintendent Andrew Peters

The departure of Coach Chase marks the beginning of a new chapter for Tabernacle Christian School’s football program, with the search for the next leader already underway. The school anticipates announcing the program’s fifth head coach in late April, signaling a new era for the Torches.
