AHSAA 6A Baseball Championship | Faith Academy takes game one over Hartselle

Montgomery, AL – Faith Academy pitcher Peyton Bell tossed a five-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Rams (33-5) to a 10-1 victory over the Hartselle Tigers (42-19) at Paterson Field Tuesday in game one of the AHSAA Class 6A State Baseball Championship two-out-of-three series.

The two teams will meet in game two Wednesday at 10 a.m., as the series moves to Riverwalk Stadium. Game three, if needed, will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.

Faith Academy, coached by Matt Seymour, broke open a scoreless game in the top of the third plating six runs. Coach William Booth’s Hartselle squad was unable to recover. 

Lead-off hitter Michael Hopskin had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Rams. Parker Carlson also had two hits and an RBI and Colton Wood doubled in two runs.

Peyton Steele had a single and RBI to lead Hartselle.

Bayshore Christian (26-8) and Donoho (23-10) met in the 1A series opener at 7 Tuesday night. The two teams will play game two at Riverwalk at 4 p.m., Wednesday.  

Classes 7A and 4A kickoff game one of their series Wednesday at Paterson Field at 4 and 7 p.m., respectively.

The first games of each AHSAA State Baseball Championship Series is set to be played at Paterson Field and is being live-streamed over the NFHS Network. The final games of each series moves to Riverwalk Stadium and are also being live-steamed by the NFHS Network and are being telecast live over AHSAA TV Network by WOTM TV.
