Thompson Blanks Florence 42-0 Securing Their 17th Consecutive Playoff Victory

Alabaster, AL – The defending state champion and second ranked Thompson Warriors (10-0) scored their third shutout of the season, blanking the Florence Falcons (6-5) 42-0 Thursday night to kick off the first round of the AHSAA Class 7A postseason.  

Spearheading the victory was freshman signal caller Trent Seaborn, who put on an exceptional performance. He completed 25-of-29 passes, totaling 343 yards and tossing three touchdown passes. His scoring throws were to Michael Dujon (38 yards), Angel Jones (28 yards), and Deuce Oliver (13 yards). He also demonstrated his running ability with a 4-yard touchdown sprint.

AJ Green, another standout Warrior, contributed significantly to the win. Green carried the ball seven times, covering 51 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns. He also displayed his receiving skills, catching eight passes for a team-leading 98 yards.

The win marked the Region 3 Champion Warriors’ 17th consecutive playoff victory and runs their winning streak to five games, since falling to 6A power Clay-Chalkville (9-0) in a nationally televised matchup in September.  The Warriors await the outcome of Friday night’s first round matchup at Thompson Reynolds Stadium between the 6th ranked Vestavia Hills Rebels (8-2) and the No. 10 Austin Black Bears (8-2).  Thompson will welcome the winner to Warrior Stadium on November 17th.
