Saraland’s Ryan Williams named MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year

Saraland, AL – The reigning Alabama Mr. Football, Ryan Williams, picked up another accolade on Tuesday being named MaxPreps’ Alabama Football Player of the Year.  

The 6’1, 170 pound five star prospect received the honor after leading the Saraland Spartans to a 14-1 record and a Class 6A runner-up finish in 2023.  Williams began the season as a junior before reclassifying to the 2024 class in mid-December.  

He plans to official sign his collegiate National Letter of Intent on his 17th birthday, February 9th.

The longtime University of Alabama commit hauled in 72 receptions for 1,324 yard and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 261 yards and seven scores, tossing a touchdown pass and returning three kicks into the endzone during his final season with the Spartans.  His 2023 campaign was highlighted by a 232 yard four touchdown performance in Saraland’s Class 6A title game loss to Clay-Chalkville at Bryant-Denny Stadium.  

Williams was recently named the Most Valuable Player of the 37th Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game following a 92 yard two touchdown performance.  

He closed out his prep career with over 5,000 all-purpose yards and 80 touchdowns.
