Helena Dominates Buckhorn 55-7

Helena, AL – Helena showcased their dominance once again as they triumphed over the Buckhorn Bucks (1-1) with a commanding 55-7 victory on Friday night in north Shelby County. This victory marked the second impressive win for head coach Richie Busby’s Huskies, who had previously defeated Chelsea 50-14 in Week 0. The Helena offense, led by the formidable trio of quarterback Carson Acker, running back Jordan Washington, and receiver Hunter Hale, proved to be unstoppable.

Acker’s performance was nothing short of exceptional as he completed 14-of-17 passes for a total of 185 yards and an impressive four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Jordan Washington led the charge on the ground, amassing 99 yards on 19 carries, with two of those runs ending in the endzone. He also showcased his versatility by hauling in an 11 yard touchdown reception.

Hunter Hale was another key playmaker for the Huskies, hauling in five passes for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Not content with that, Hale showcased his explosiveness on special teams, returning a kickoff 97 yards for yet another score.

Contributing to the offensive showcase, Torrey Ward made his presence felt with two receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown. Altogether, the Huskies amassed an impressive 361 yards of offense during the dominant showing over their Tennessee Valley foes.

With this non-region matchup under their belts, the Huskies now prepare to hit the road as they kick off Class 6A, Region 3 play. Their next challenge takes them to Waldrop Stadium, where they will face the struggling Homewood Patriots, who currently sitting at 0-2.  The Bucks are set to roll into region play by welcoming the Gadsden-City Titans to Tommy Ledbetter Stadium.
