Spain Park Claws Past Briarwood in North Shelby Clash

Hoover, AL – The Spain Park Jaguars secured a convincing 37-6 victory over the Briarwood Christian Lions Friday night at Bob Finley Field. The win not only pushed Spain Park to a 2-0 start but also served as payback for their painful two-point loss at Lion’s Pride Stadium last year. On the flip side, the Lions have had an uncharacteristic start to the season, dropping to 0-2 for the first time since 2015.

Jaguars quarterback Brock Bradley was the star of the show, completing 15-of-24 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Bradley’s accurate passing and ability to read the defense kept the Lions defense on their toes all night. He connected with Reggie Jackson for a 19-yard touchdown and found Jonathan Bibbs for a 13-yard score. Jackson and Bibbs combined for 75 receiving yards on seven catches.

The Jaguars also showcased a balanced rushing attack. Derick Shanks led with 58 yards and a touchdown, while Dakarai Shanks added 49 yards on 15 carries. Jamar Jones chipped in with 21 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

Defensively, Spain Park was rock-solid, limiting the Lions to just six points. The Jaguars’ defense disrupted the Lions’ passing game and closed down running lanes, leading to turnovers and preventing the Lions from gaining momentum.
