9th Ranked Helena Improves To 6-0 With 42-7 Win Over Jackson-Olin

Helena, AL – The Helena Huskies continued their impressive winning streak, improving to 6-0 on the season with a commanding victory over the Jackson-Olin Mustangs, who now find themselves winless at 0-6. The final score told the story of the game – Huskies 42, Mustangs 7.

Quarterback Carson Acker led the charge for the Huskies, putting on a near-flawless performance. Acker completed 11-of-12 passes for 132 yards, connecting with his receivers for an impressive three touchdown passes. Despite a lone interception, Acker’s accuracy and decision-making were instrumental in Helena’s dominant showing.

The real star of the evening, though, was wide receiver Hunter Hale. Hale hauled in seven passes for a total of 78 yards and an astounding three touchdowns. His exceptional performance was not limited to offense, as he electrified the crowd with a punt return for yet another score. Hale’s versatility and knack for finding the end zone made him the linchpin of the Huskies’ offensive success.

But the receiving corps didn’t stop with Hale. Nate Jones made his presence felt as well, catching five passes for 64 yards and contributing one touchdown to the impressive Huskies’ tally. Torrey Ward joined the touchdown party with his own scoring reception, adding to the Mustangs’ woes.

Defensively, the Huskies also demonstrated their prowess, stifling the Jackson-Olin offense and holding them to just one touchdown. This well-rounded performance highlights Helena’s strength as a team, excelling in both offensive and defensive facets of the game.

Looking ahead, the Huskies will shift their focus back to Class 6A, Region 3 play as they prepare to host Briarwood Christian (3-2, 2-0) next week. .

On the other side of the field, the Mustangs will welcome the winless Gardendale Rockets (0-5, 0-2) to J-O Field in a Class 6A, Region 5 matchup.
