Defending Class 5A Champion Ramsay Punches Their Ticket to Tuscaloosa with 35-14 Win Over Guntersville

Birmingham, AL – The reigning Class 5A Champion Ramsay Rams have secured a spot in the AHSAA Super 7 Championships for the second consecutive year with a 35-14 semifinal win over the Guntersville Wildcats Friday night at historic Legion Field.  

Rams receiver Tremell Washington was on the receiving end of three touchdown passes from Kameron Kennan, who completed 26-of-32 pass attempts, racking up 406 yards and three scores. Washington made 11 catches for 151 yards, scoring on 47, 5, and 57-yard receptions. Ashton Ashford added to the Rams’ tally with 18 carries for 102 yards, scoring on 1 and 4-yard runs. Kristian Stinson contributed with six catches for 135 yards.

Guntersville’s Eli Morrison completed 12-of-34 passes for 154 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown pass to Trayvon Avery. Avery ended the game with five catches for 102 yards. Enelson Delva scored for the Wildcats on a 1-yard run.

The Wildcats wrapped up their season at 12-2 as the Class 5A, Region 7 Champions.

Next up for the Rams is a championship showdown with the undefeated Gulf Shores Dolphins, who hold a perfect 14-0 record. The Class 5A title game is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday at the Bryant-Denny Stadium at the University of Alabama. Head coach Ronnie Jackson’s 12-2 Rams are set to defend their title in what promises to be an enthralling Super 7 Championships showdown.
