Three Star Central-Phenix City Receiver Commits to Auburn

Phenix City, AL – Hugh Freeze’s Auburn Tigers have added their second Central-Phenix City receiver to their 2024 recruiting class. Dylan Gentry, a 3-star wide receiver for head coach Patrick Nix’s Red Devils made his decision public on Sunday, becoming the second standout receiver from 7A state champion Central High to pledge to the Tigers within the last two weeks. His announcement closely follows that of his teammate, Cam Coleman, a highly sough after 5-star wide receiver who recently flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to Auburn on December 1st.

Gentry’s announcement garners added attention in light of his performance in Central-Phenix City’s 7A state title game victory over four-time defending state champion Thompson on Wednesday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Gentry’s final season with Central-Phenix City was impressive, boasting 29 reception for 540 yards, and seven touchdowns. When pitted against Thompson in the 7A championship game, Gentry stood his ground with two catches, amassing a total of 36 yards.

Freeze and the Tigers extended a preferred walk-on offer to Gentry on November 28th. The 5’9, 155 pound wideout holds offers from Florida A&M and Albany State.  He is reportedly on track to graduate in December and join the Tigers as a mid-year enrollee.
