Opelika, AL – Bryan Moore was officially named the Opelika Bulldogs’ 22nd head football coach Tuesday afternoon.
Moore has spent the past four seasons at the helm of the Hartselle High football program. He lead the 6A Tigers to a 38-9 record including a pair of region titles, four postseason appearances and a trip to the Class 6A quarterfinals in 2022.
The Valley native replaces former Opelika head coach Erik Speakman who was dismissed after six seasons. Speakman guided the Bulldogs to a combined 45-25 record.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Bryan Moore back to Opelika as our head football coach,” stated Superintendent Farrell Seymore in a press release. “His remarkable contributions as an educator and coach during his prior stint with us have only been amplified over the years. We anticipate the valuable influence he will bring to our students.”
Earlier in his career he spent seven seasons as an assistant at Opelika under head coaches Spence McCraken and Brian Blackmon.
In 2015, The Auburn University alum accepted his first head coaching position at Eufaula, leading the Tigers to a 26-9 record over three seasons and playoff appearances each year. He then moved to Jasper for the 2018 and 2019 seasons, guiding the Vikings to a 22-3 record before making the move to Hartselle in 2020.
Over nine years, Moore’s overall head coaching record stands at an impressive 86-21, with nine playoff appearances and four region titles.
“I am extremely privileged to be appointed the new head football coach at Opelika High School,” Moore expressed in the release. “The opportunity to return and helm a program I began coaching years ago feels unreal. Opelika holds a special place in my heart – it’s where my coaching career commenced, and where my children were born. My vision for this program is to make it the top football program in Alabama.”
Moore inherits an Opelika team that has posted a 9-11 record over the past two seasons.
